Sandra and Kees approached their Tosalet home as a long-term project: patient, deliberate, committed to the detail. Layer by layer, the house was stripped back and rebuilt: new floors, replastered walls, restored ironwork, a garden reimagined from scratch.
The result is a residence of quiet confidence: balanced, well-made, and deeply comfortable. Ca Xandra is the kind of home that reveals itself slowly, over repeated visits, each time offering another detail that had not been noticed before.
The renovation of Ca Xandra was not a single campaign but a series of interventions over time. The owners approached each phase with the same deliberateness: researching materials, visiting suppliers, testing samples before committing. Nothing was rushed.
The floors came first: the original concrete was removed and replaced with large-format limestone tiles, laid without grout lines in the traditional Valencian manner. The walls followed: plaster applied in three coats, each allowed to dry fully before the next was applied, producing a surface with the slight irregularity that distinguishes handcraft from machine finish.
Balanced. Well-made.
Deeply comfortable.
The garden of Ca Xandra was one of the last elements to be addressed, and the one that Sandra and Kees spent the most time considering. The existing planting was removed almost entirely and replaced with a scheme based on native species: rosemary, lavender, wild thyme, and a single specimen olive of the kind that the Tosalet hillside has always grown.
