Among the orange groves and carob trees of the Tosalet hillside, Finca del Peix is a country estate whose renovation preserved the agricultural character of the original building: generous rooms, deep shade, the smell of citrus at dusk.
The JB approach here was one of precision without imposition. Materials chosen for their relationship to the soil and climate. Spaces reconfigured to serve contemporary life without erasing the logic of the original finca. A place that asks you, still, to slow down.
A finca has its own logic: the farm buildings arranged around a central courtyard, the shaded arcade facing south, the well or cistern at the centre of the plot. Finca del Peix retained this logic and built a contemporary domestic programme within it.
The central courtyard became the heart of outdoor life. The arcade, originally a working space for tools and harvested fruit, became a covered dining room open to the garden on three sides. The old storage rooms were transformed into guest accommodation without losing their thick-walled quiet.
Generous rooms.
Deep shade.
The smell of citrus at dusk.
The grove at Finca del Peix predates the existing buildings by at least a generation. Orange, lemon, and carob trees stand at intervals across the plot, their canopies meeting overhead to create corridors of dappled shade in summer.
